CSN® Brake Resistors

CSN® Braking Resistors are used for controlled braking of every kind of electrical drives.

Braking resistors convert the energy of drives into thermal energy which will be dissipated into the corresponding cooling medium. Design variations with natural or forced air cooling are available. CSN® Braking Resistors can be delivered with an indirect water cooling system using an air-water heat exchanger as well.

The design of the CSN® Braking Resistors is particularly suitable for use in maritime applications. Schniewindt, as global market leader in this resistor sector, has a wealth of experience in the design according to the technical guidelines and rules of international classification societies for example:

  • American Bureau of Shipping (ABS)
  • Bureau Veritas (BV)
  • Det Norske Veritas (DNV) / Germanischer Lloyd (GL)
  • Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (LR)
  • Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS)

Schniewindt had already supplied braking resistors for energy consumptions up to 100 MJ. Every single CSN® Braking Resistor is manufactured according to individual customer requirements.
